Description

The Shop Supervisor will direct work in the Roxtec Fabrication Shop with a focus on safety, quality and cost.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain a safe and organized shop by ensuring all employees follow proper safety practices including daily safety meetings and tracking.
  • Direct the time and activities of the Fabrication Shop team including welders, mill operators, grinders, and painters according to the shop schedule and customer demands.
  • Verify our Quality Control specifications are being followed in all areas within the fabrication shop working closely with the Quality Manager to resolve quality issues, take preventative and corrective action.
  • Coordinate with the Production Planning Coordinator on a daily basis to create and maintain the shop schedule and ensure completion of shop orders to best serve our customers.
  • Create outside operation purchase orders using IFS as needed and coordinate pickup and delivery from outside vendors.
  • Organize and file MTRs for all raw material used and assign two-digit IDs as needed.
  • Create monthly reports of KPI’s related to shop performance.
  • Initiate projects to reduce consumable costs in the shop and document savings.
  • Increase throughput and on-time performance while being safety and cost conscience (reduce grinding and other non-value-added operations).
  • Coordinate with Production Planning Coordinator on projects to more accurately document product Routings and Structures.
  • Provide Shop labor time estimates for custom Roxtec solutions referencing drawings.
  • Coordinate, plan, and track shop equipment maintenance as needed.
  • Direct and coordinate required training and testing for the shop team.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, scheduling, staffing, safety, and maintenance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical (CAD) drawings.
  • Must have a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Intermediate level of computer skills in Microsoft suite of products, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capable of making independent decisions and work with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent, some college preferred

Minimum 3 years welding supervisory experience

Minimum 3 years welding manufacturing & fabrication experience or formal welding experience training from an accredited school
