In case of fire, your project is in danger. Roxtec cable and pipe transits are proven firestops.
The Roxtec fire test lab plays a key role in the product development and the pre-certification process. Roxtec test and certificates engineers and test technicians prepare the tests with exactness since the sample must be tested as an entire system in a realistic environment.
A fire test requires everything from drawings to structures and insulation. The test specimen is built, with installations in vertical walls or bulkheads or horizontal floors or decks, and attached to the furnace. Thermocouples are placed all over the test object and connected to computers in the control room. If there are customers or classification society representatives present, they are invited to the observation platform before the test starts.
Verifying integrity and insulation
The test is performed to check the seal's maintenance of integrity and insulation during a determined period of time. The fire must not burn through, neither result in hot gases igniting on the non-fire side. A frequent demand is A-60, which means 1 hour's fire-stop and a maximum temperature increase of 180°C from the start of the test.
Useful results
The temperature is measured in many places according to strictly regulated standards. The results are logged directly and shown on the computer screen. When the test specimen is cooled, it is examined. It is checked on both sides for possible leak paths or areas of extreme heat and too hot gases.
The result, presented in graphs and pictures, is helpful for both customers and engineers.
