TOWARDEX is the owner of a multi-tenant utility infrastructure for data centers and wireless telecom networks. The network of underground fiber optic cable vaults is used by an increasing number of customers, such as telecommunications providers serving New England’s internet traffic. The vaults, manholes and handholes are sealed from water ingress and gas with Roxtec seals for cable and conduit penetrations, and all the seals are registered in the Roxtec software.
TOWARDEX is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure and managing the placement of fiber optic cables. They must be able to access vaults and manholes frequently. It is a game-changer in comparison to the previously used Excel sheets and paper records. Those records were often quickly outdated. Thanks to the register, the team knows exactly when a seal must be opened for additions and resealed and inspected after changes. They just scan the QR code and change the status of the seal from green to yellow and red.
“Our principal challenge is that every time we have customers going into the system, we must go back and reseal the openings. We must make sure all activities in the system correspond to the work log. In the Roxtec software, we have all the features we need. It is simple and quick,” says James Jun.
