Global cable and pipe seal manufacturer Roxtec is bolstering its Industry and Infrastructure team with the appointment of George Light as Data Centre Market Manager for the United Kingdom.

George joins Greater Manchester-based Roxtec Ltd after spending the past 15 years running his own business in the international data centre industry.

Roxtec Ltd Managing Director Clive Sharp said “George joins the Roxtec team at a time of high growth for the business in the data centre industry.” He said the firm is now supplying products to all ‘hyperscale’ data centres. The UK and Ireland is a key territory for driving growth across Europe with many contractors and design firms based here.

“We’re delighted to welcome George to Roxtec to drive growth in one of our key sectors,” he said. “We’ve seen significant demand in data centres over the last 10 years and that is being supercharged by AI. As a result we’re already working with some of the biggest tech firms in the world across multiple projects in the UK and Ireland which George will be supporting. This experience is giving Roxtec a real edge in the data centre industry. Working with George we’ll be showcasing how Roxtec’s seals are protecting some of the most important data centre locations against fire, flooding, air or gas leakage, effects of lightning strikes, humidity and electromagnetic disturbances to ensure nonstop safe operation.”

George brings a wealth of experience within the IT infrastructure, design and installation sphere. A strong communicator, he has closely collaborated with mechanical and electrical contractors and appreciates the time pressures and build phases that often require swift action to overcome any pressing issues.

In his new role, George will be responsible for expanding Roxtec’s product offering while working closely with design houses, mechanical and electrical engineers and data centre owners. The role will also involve identifying ambitious new business opportunities within larger scale data centres, where Roxtec’s products can be seamlessly integrated as part of the IT infrastructure. Additionally, he will nurture existing relationships and provide advice and support to ensure Roxtec’s clients continue to receive the highest levels of service for their project needs.

George said: “I am excited to join a company that has so many years’ worth of industry experience across a huge range of sectors, observing controlled and sustainable growth along every step of the way to become the global leader in pipe and cable safety seals.

“I’m looking forward to helping to further develop their products within the data centre market, where I’ll be joining a very knowledgeable and experienced global team. The ultimate aim is for Roxtec’s unique products to become more recognised and specified, particularly throughout large scale data centres, which marks the start of a bold new era for the business.

“My role is all about adopting a collaborative approach that includes supporting these ambitious new data centre and IT infrastructure projects, while helping to grow the business’s reputation and profile. I genuinely cannot wait to demonstrate my skills and abilities to Roxtec and its customers as we continue to strive for engineering excellence and innovation.”

Roxtec’s cable and pipe seals have achieved a two-hour fire rating certification for use with Euroclad panels. They also offer bespoke solutions for underground pits and roof top entry points which provide users with the guarantee that they are protected from multiple hazards.

Additionally, Roxtec’s transit frames and modules offer the highest fire resistance rating and unrivalled aesthetics all at the same time. This allows for multiple adaptability and expansion possibilities, without having to compromise air flow and tightness in data centres. This, in turn, minimises the risk of internal wall penetration, which can be both costly and unsightly.

Roxtec was founded in Sweden in 1990 and is active in more than 80 markets worldwide. The UK and Ireland subsidiary of the €270 million Swedish group has a turnover of more than £10 million and a team of 25 based in Bury, Greater Manchester.
