Do you need to strengthen and extend the power transmission grid? Are you thinking about investing in and building gas insulated substations, GIS? If so, consider specifying Roxtec cable and pipe seals to protect switchgear equipment and ensure stable power transmission.
“With Roxtec, you can prevent flooding, fire, and rodents and even ensure bonding and grounding with one single sealing solution,” says Henrik Johannesson, Global Segment Manager T&D at Roxtec.
Tightness underground
A GIS is often built instead of an air insulated substation in highly populated areas. The gas insulated technology requires less space, and the area under it is used for pulling cables. It is therefore very important to seal the cable and pipe entries in cable trenches, foundations and walls from water ingress, dirt and dust. Flooding caused by severe weather events or humidity entering the basement can cause partial discharge activity, failure and damage to vital equipment. And so can rodents and other pests.
“Roxtec UG™ seals are especially developed for use underground,” says Henrik Johannesson.
Protection above ground
It is equally important to seal all other openings for cables and pipes in the building to ensure the integrity of walls, floors, and cabinets. Roxtec offers sealing solutions that can be bolted, cast or welded to the structure and that protect against multiple risks, including fire, water – and gas.
“Our gastight sealing solutions for bonding and grounding prevent gas from leaking or spreading to other areas and make it easy to ensure EMC, electromagnetic compatibility. We also offer round off-center seals that simplify routing, handling and sealing of very large and stiff cables.”
Why use Roxtec?
- All-in-one solution
- Multi-hazard protection
- Electromagnetic compatibility
- For wall, floor and cabinet entries
- Attachment by bolting, casting or welding
